Our impressions of Denmark are limited to Copenhagen but it is an expensive place to visit and presumably live. This is like most of the Nordic
countries, however we felt that it had less to offer than its neighbours. This combined with the price limited our options or willingness to explore the options here.
We planned two days here but we had easily exhausted everything to see in the first day and found ourselves really waiting at times for our flight home. I would suggest
for most a day trip here would be enough. If you had more time than this you'd probably want to explore more of the country than just Copenhagen.
Copenhagen's architecture is very impressive and there are some good view points. Even on less architecturally impressive streets they are often
very tidy, colourful, lined with pretty trees and bicycles. This makes Copenhagen a very pretty place to walk or cycle around. The merchant harbour (Nyhavn) is a very pretty
harbour and a good place to sit out and grab some food and a drink.
To our surprise while we were exploring Copenhagen we bumped into the World Santa Claus Congress. This is basically a parade of all sorts of people's interpretations of Santa
Claus. It was a fun, impressive and strange thing to see in mid july. From further research we discovered that this festival started in 1957 and has been held every year
since. It was certainly one of the more unusual and random moments of our Nordic Trip.
Copenhagen brought an end to our Nordic trip and from here we headed on a flight back to the UK. It had been an exciting trip, but having started with Norway and the hiking Stockholm and Copenhagen hadn't had much chance to live up to our early expectations. Both Stockholm and Copenhagen would be better visited on a day trip or weekend break on their own or while exploring more of their respective countries.
