Liechtenstein is a tiny place, you cross the river from Switzerland and you're in Liechtenstein. Squashed between the mountains and the river.
Its small size also makes it a very expensive place, to stay, to eat, to live I assume. There is not a lot to see here either, but we had to break up our day somewhere
and we knew it'd be too much to make it back to Zurich in a day. Especially true given the issues we had picking up the car rental.
Our arrival had been timed perfectly with the England vs Switzerland EURO quarter-final. We hadn't expected it but apparently Liechtenstein is a huge Switzerland team
supporter. As such we found ourselves in the main square watching the game, the only English surrounded by a crowd of Swiss supporters. It was a surreal experience
and even better when England went on to win by penalty shootout. We went on to have some nice wine, food and then a bottle of Liesecco (Liechtenstein Prosecco) back
at the hotel.
The next day we left headed back to Switzerland and the Swiss Alps.
