URUGUAY 2013

Welcome to Uruguay!

Uruguay. A place we knew little about apart from the prime minister and what he had done for the country. It was a unique place and while like Argentina it had a slightly different feel. Although the wine was still present the food was generally less appetising.

Colonia

Our first stop in Uruguay was Colonia. A small port town made up from old buildings and cobble streets. It had a really nice feel to it and the old fort made for a nice stop. All the cars in Colonia are always old given it a bit of a vintage feel which we hadn't really seen anywhere since we were in Cuba all the way back in 2004.

Montevideo

Montevideo, still had a similar feel to Colonia, but you could tell it was the capital. The laid back vibe ran alongside the uptempo 9-5 work ethic of most cities. Despite this Montevideo still had a really nice boardwalk that strecthed for miles along the coast and the odd beach, which although not the nicest was ok for a city beach. This and the mix of old buildings and street art allowed us to enjoy our time here.

Leaving Montevideo we knew our trip was reaching a climax. We were due to be in Brazil, our next country for around 5 weeks and we new that by the time we left Brazil we were really going to be on our way back home. While we still had so much to see we knew that we weren't too far from having to go back to the world of work and England.
