Arizona the place of two timezones. In the indigenous areas the observe daylight savings. In the rest they do not. Unfortunately most the parks are in indigenous territory and therefore the time of shops and the national parks opening in this state are 1 hour different in summer. This obviously led to some confusion, especially when travelling into neighbouring states.
Upon arriving at the Grand Canyon we were greeted by low-lying fog. This didn't make for the ideal conditions to see the Grand Canyon, however it did make it have a mystical feel. The fog did lift briefly in parts so that we could see what was hidden behind it and the vast expanse of the canyon itself. There was of course as could be expected many tourists driving up and down the road and I imagine on a day with better weather you would really struggle to actually park up and see the canyon.
We then left Arizona headed for Colorado and slightly cooler plains.
