The state of palm trees, beautiful sunshine and no traffic. It really does stick out as a sore thumb when compared to the rest of the states. Just how enjoyable and relaxed you can be here immediately gives you that holiday feeling.
We had big plans for our time here. We were going to rent a V8 muscle car and do the american dream. Driving in the sun down to the Miami Everglades
and enjoy the park and a ride on an airboat. Unfortunately the Republicans decided to ruin this dream for us, by refusing to sign off on government
funding until Obama dropped the Obamacare bill. I had told Kat about this previously, but she didn't believe me when I told her that the Americans
would be stupid enough to let it happen. Even I thought I was being satirical, but yet it happened. Most of the US government shutdown this included
the Miami Everglades. Were we gutted, of course we were, but we had also come down with the flu and so we wouldn't have been particularly up for it
anyway. We were just blessed that the Republicans hadn't ruined our entire trip to the United States.
Needless to say we didn't let being ill or the US government ruin our time here and so we continued to enjoy Miami Beach in scorching heat and the
multi-cultural city that Miami was and all it had to offer as a result. It would've been worse to be anywhere else in America during the shutdown
than here.
This section brings to an end an immense and unforgettable trip across the United States of America. This trip was actually changed from route 66 to this. We are so glad that we made these changes. I cannot explain how shocked I was by some of the beauty to be found in America. We were however glad to be leaving America though. By this stage we really needed proper food, healthy food and natural food. Our stomachs were beginning to demand it. From here we flew to Cancun, Mexico.
